Theatres in ValenciaYou can View the Map of Central Theatres, Cinemas and Art Galleries / Museums. Valencia has a good twenty or so theatres. Valencia loves arts. Even the more serious state-run companies are not just into big-budget costume drama, you will appreciate the creativity of the Valencians. In all reality, however, this page is almost exclusively for those who understand Spanish - both to check the programme on the websites below and to watch the shows. The exclusion might be an occasional dance show. Here are some of the more estabilshed theatres. (Prices are the average, they may change depending on a show) A very convenient service is the purchase of tickets through the Bancaja (a Spanish bank) website. Often this website also makes it a lot easier to look up the show description and the showing times than the website of the theatre itself. Highly recommended, but you will have to read in Spanish. Theatres listed are: Principal, Rialto, Talia, L'Altre Espai, Off, Micalet, Olympia, Musical Government TheatresThere are four government theatres in the centre of Valencia. They do not have specific orientation, generally staging a broad mixture of the classic and the modern, the tragic and the funny, the deep, the educatinal, the entertaingng. Big budget spectacles or simple sets. Musicals, dance or drama. The government in Valencia does a good job of maintaining a broad range of creative, innovative and independent in theatre, and "government theatre" here is defeintely not synonymous with outdated or unimaginative. The government theatres will normally charge 16€ for prime seats and 8€ for second rate.
