Zona Beach / Port: Listings (Nightlife in Valencia)Bars, Pubs, Coktail Bars, Disco-Bars, Nightclubs Although Valencia has a fantastic beach, loved by residents and tourists alike, it is a multi-faceted city rather than a purely beach resort, so the nightlife is concetrated more in the inner city. The beach and port area have a small enough choice to fit it all on this page. However, these few places are all strong personalitites, varied enough and vibrant enough to make for a good night out. Beach and port nightlife in Valencia is very seasonal. Most of the places use open air spaces (roofs, gardens, terraces) as their trump card and, naturally, lose them when the summer is over. The area is best enjoyed from June to August, and is almost not worth it betwen November and April, although if you are staying here and can't be bothered to go anywhere else, you will still find a party. The nightlife here is spit between two small clusters - the more traditional beach area and the new modern, trendy port. type of music type of crowd (mixed=age) price in euros The BeachThe cluster on Eugenia Vines street (Google Maps) , just by the main entrance to the beach of Malvarossa holds 4 disco-bars and 2 night-clubs, surrounded by a few restaurants and tapas bars. It is a more traditional spot favoured by resident Valencians. There are no pubs as such but the places have terraces where you can start off the night in a quiet way. The bonus to this area is that in the summer the entire beach front in front of these bars becomes a crowded promenade where old and young bring their own booze (and even table and chairs) and enjoy the social Mediterranean night. You may well hear a Gypsy guitar or African drums and you can meet a lot of people. The bars themselves don't start going until well past midnight though. |
PortThe new America's Cup Port area, in contrast, is mainly a place for classy cocktails in lounge ambience and luxurious Mediterranean breeze. That said, Las Dockas (below) is a huge and very popular nightclub and the nights at the Estrella Damm Lounge are also quite a buzz. The Port has become a very cosmopolitan addition to Valencia, with many foreigners mixing with the locals. It also has a very relaxed attitude - just about the only place in Valencia where you can have a drink wearing sandals.
