Apart from being the birth place of Agua de Valencia (naturally, this is a good place to try it), Cafe Madrid is practically synonymous with "Valencian nightlife". With decades under its belt, this place still gives a real Valencian experience - that's to say they have ignored the cosmopolitan influence and have stayed Valencian to the core. It is a place for the weekenders to meet with friends in the flury of activity - cafe Madrid is always noisy, dynamic and lively. Many dance to a usual selection of pop, spanish pop and commercial dance music, while others enjoy the many cosy areas for sitting down with a tranquil drink. In a true Spanish way this place is not age specific - all ages are all together enjoying the fiesta in their own ways. It is a place where you will notice plenty of Valencian looks-obsession and pretentiousness, yet most of the time a genuine friendliness and openness beneath that. A gorgeously decorated, two-floors venue adds a good deal of class. The night here may be not what you are used to, but it is a real cultural experience of Valencia, especially for a more mature traveller.
